In addition to the special Shengxiao collection of coins to mark the Chinese New Year, the UK’s Royal Mint also produces special versions of its Britannia silver bullion coin to commemorate the Chinese lunar new year.

Reverse:
The reverse of the coin features Philip Nathan’s elegant design of Britannia, standing on a windswept shore with waves at her feet, with her trident, shield, and olive branch in her hands.

Obverse:
Like the normal Britannia bullion coin, the 2015 Silver Lunar Britannia Ram bullion coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. 2015 was the last year to feature the iconic portrait designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Unlike the normal Britannia coins which have a reeded edge, the Lunar coins feature a smooth edge with privy marks incused around the edge. For 2015, the privy mark features the horns of a ram, to commemorate the Year of the Ram (sometimes called the Year of the Sheep or Year of the Goat).

These coins were already something special when compared to the standard Britannia bullion coins. And now that these coins are no longer in production, they’re especially hard to find. Act now to get your hands on your 2015 Silver Lunar Britannia Ram coins before they’re all gone.
